Isn't rating a book before being published a little dishonest?

Natalie Ruth If someone hasn't read it, I would say yes. Though there are ways to get your hands on copies of books before release as well. ARCs for example.
Tristan Prather The audio version of this book had been out for a while which gave people the chance to read it before the physical release.
GIANNI MANZANO Not when these people have read it. Stop assuming.
Amanda People have many reasons for rating before release!
Xavaqenia Maybe. This is par for the course though, with many hyped new releases. This book isn’t any different than Rhythm of War, and The Burning God, and Addie LaRue, which all came out late last year and had plenty of ratings before they were released. (Also, some people will get review copies to read before the release, although it doesn’t look like that happened here.)
