How do you get inspired to write?

Gary N. McCloud I was inspired to write my first book 'Sentence of Death,' many years ago when I was in high school. I was watching an old movie in which a woman was executed in the gas chamber and prior to her last walk she was make to take her shoes off. I wondered why and went to my high school librarian who helped me find a few articles from some older books and magazines that explained my question. She later told me that I knew enough that I could write a book and years later I did.
