I have little flashes, just kind of appear, I can see or read something, or be listening to music and it gets my mind racing. I keep a notepad in my back pocket, and whenever I get the idea I jot it down for later. Sometimes the idea is complete, sometimes it's not, but just writing it down, just the concept can ingrain it into my head. It can bounce around, growing there until it's ready to be put to paper.
