Hi Jeaniene! I have a question about Ian: how did he become interested in magic? And did he learn it alone? I was also wondering if his friends Bones and Spade knew about his skills. Thanks for writing the Night Rebel series, Ian and Veritas are amazing!

Jeaniene Frost Ian became interested in magic the moment he heard that he wasn't allowed to do it :). Bones and Spade probably suspected that he dabbled because they know Ian's tendency to rebel against authority, but they never knew he'd become as skilled as he had. Ian deliberately didn't let people know because he wanted the element of surprise, if he needed it during a fight. Example: I've always known that Ian used magic against the ghouls at the end of UP FROM THE GRAVE when he was luring them away from an injured Bones, but I couldn't say that at the time, so it happened off-page. It's only hinted at when Cat is so surprised at how quickly Ian defeated them all. Now you know how, heh.
