I'm only 300 pages in but wonder how this is still categorized/ marketed as YA? In terms of graphic content and thematic content this is very similar to Crescent City which is considered Maas's adult debut. I love all of Maas's books and I in no way mean this as criticism of the book (which I'm loving) or any of her other books. I just wonder from curiosity if anyone is having similar reactions?

It actually isn't. The series started off as YA, but with the new covers the series was changed to an Adult Series.

I agree, and even though there is meant to be a shift to it being adult I don't think it's been done correctly (e.g. at my library it is still in the young adult section)

i first read this book and i was 12 (ive been scarred for life). i honestly thought that was normal for ya books lol. after reading more ya fantasy (and a couple adult books) i can say this series shifted from being a slightly smutty ya novel to... idk how to explain it lol.

I came on here to ask the same question :) I love Sarah J. Maas and assumed these were YA but as I'm reading ACOSF right now it feels like full on erotic fantasy. It's insanely graphic. There's no way it can be YA at this point.
