Goodreads asked Bret R. Wright:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Bret R. Wright Keep writing and keep reading! Seek out classes or workshops from experienced writers. Listen to feedback, and develop your own voice. Don't try to emulate someone else, that rarely works.

I sometimes see new writers not being open to constructive criticism from their peers regarding ways to make their stories even better. While too much input can be overwhelming, not enough can often result in a writer making the same mistakes over and over again, with little-to-no growth. Find a helpful community of writers to help you on your journey, and be willing to listen to them.
