Kate asked this question about Glint (The Plated Prisoner, #2):
I'm a bit confused about the ending. I'm aware it's supposed to be a bit of a mystery but is commander Rip and the Kind of the 4th the same person? Because when Midas is negotiating with the king it makes it sound like both the commander and the king are in the room and thus two different people. Is this a split personalities thing? Because the comment that Rip said, 'make a choice before the king comes' seems weird.

I was confused too. When they walk into the throne room.
"First small, both in height and in stature. But the next one is massive, a brute no doubt chosen as guard for his size alone."
( So Lu and Osrik ).
The third one on the end appears of average size, with the same black armor and leathers as the other two, same crude tree branch sword hilt"
(So Judd.)

"The fourth member of the quad walk toward the dais. This one, I’ve heard of. The commander of the army." And describes Rip

Then the king comes in.
Who is the fourth stand in if Rip is the king?
And was all his nice-ness and respect toward Auren a facade? Was it all a trick? I'm assuming his "Wraith" know but the rest of the army and people don't. Is it a jeckle and hyde thing?(less)
