Goodreads asked Daniel G. Miller:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Daniel G. Miller 1) The outline is so critical. If you set up the structure of the novel properly, you are then free to throw yourself into the prose.
2) To repeat, write the book you want to read. The readers will feel your passion in the writing and you'll have so much more fun writing it.
3) Set simple, manageable goals (e.g. a rough chapter a day). The process is so overwhelming that if you think about it in its entirety you'll never finish.
4) Act out the scenes. I can't tell you how many times my fiances has caught me pacing around talking to myself. :)
