Goodreads asked Michele Paige Holmes:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Michele Paige Holmes Aspiring writers should read as much as they possibly can--every day, every genre. Study the stories that move you; try to decipher what went wrong in books that you didn't like. Along with reading, just write, and write, and write. Then edit and revise and edit and revise and edit and revise. Find a critique group and get valuable feedback on your stories. Be patient and realize that crafting a good story is a long and involved process. Much like a sculptor crafting a piece of art, a novel takes several passes to get to its completed, best self, stage. If you love the whole process--from meticulous research, to tedious edits, then you're probably on the right track!
