Do you do big character profiling or worldbuilding sprees? I find that I often get stuck in the loop of describing my characters, places, languages, and things, without ever writing the story itself.

I profile my characters only when I'm stuck, so often I don't profile them at all. I don't generally build any more world than I need to tell my story. Often, my worldbuilding is based on fact, like on daily life in the Middle Ages.
