Michael, I just finished "The Stranger in the Woods" which my family & are I reading for our family book club (my 15-year-old brother-in-law was the one who picked it out!). I loved it despite the sadness of Chris's story. You did a wonderful job describing his inner-life. I'm curious what attracted you to Chris and his story & why you felt his story was worth all the work to tell it? Thank you for writing it!

Thank you for your readership! I was attracted to the incredible feat of endurance that Chris pulled off. I was attracted to Chris' quiet intelligence. I was even attracted to his prickly, unfriendly personality. And I wanted to write a book that asked this question: what can we do with a person who is unable to live in modern society?

Hello Michael: Christopher, as well as his whole family, had social issues. The only thing I would've added to your book was a deeper understanding of the cabin owners whose cabins were molested repeatedly. I am glad that all is well with them now & hopefully with Christopher too. At what point did you decide to pursue this as your next book? T U for your investigative skills in fact finding. I was very interested in your note at the end about the lost young men of Japan. Wow. Thanks for including that in this fascinating book. Also, a comment- The narrator chosen for the CD version was the perfect voice for this story. Don't know if you had input into the selection but bravo! Do you listen to audio books yourself? Casandra Campbell is my favorite narrator. Do you have a favorite?
