Goodreads asked Panda B. Jensen Anderson:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Panda B. Jensen Anderson Just Write.
Don't worry about publishing, or contracts, or money. Just write all your ideas down. Even the ones you think suck. I have an entire collection of notebooks and a file on my laptop full of ideas I probably wont ever expand on, because they just don't have the right creativity I'm looking for right now.

Don't worry about your spelling or grammar at this point, that's what editing and proof-reading is for. If you really want to write, just do so. Whether it's 1000 pages or only 20. There's no hard and fast rules.

I wish I'd known this when I'd first started writing almost 10 years ago now, (not counting those stories you make up as a child) that it doesn't matter whether it's a best seller or not. Just do it because you love it and have a story to tell. Someone will always read it. Even if it's just you. There is no such thing as failure, only learning curves.

We all start somewhere.
