Igniting the Fire is a very personal book for me. It began over ten years ago as I went to the same school where Billy Graham had gone nearly sixty years earlier. It was there that I began to ask the questions about what Billy did as a student there, and how he became a world-famous evangelist. The journey to today was filled with detours, but I met and corresponded with many of Billy Graham’s classmates, researched in books, archives, libraries and made several trips to finally answer these questions. What I found was that there were lots of people investing in Billy Graham, as well as marvelous institutions and movements shaping him into a purposeful evangelist in his own right. It really has been a wonderful journey for me, and think that it will be for many of its readers.
