Rori asked April Henry:

I have been wanting to write a book for awhile now and wanted to ask if you have any advice? Im such a huge fan of your books, ive been reading them sense I was 11, you made me want to read alot more!

April Henry Hey Rori - I have lots of more specific writing advice on my website, aprilhenry.com. In general, I would say read a lot and think about what you are reading. If you start not liking a book, ask yourself what the author did to make you feel like that. If you love a book (and this is harder) try to figure out why.

You should also write a lot. The words you right will never be as good as they were in your imagination, and that's okay. You can always make it better by putting it aside, coming back later, and editing.

And finally, don't give up. It took me 10 years from finishing my first book to having one (the fourth one I'd written, actually) in bookstores. But if I had stopped, I wouldn't be where I am now. My 26th book just came out this week.
