asked:
Anyone else notice a continuity issue in Chapter 5? One day it’s the first frost of fall, and the following day it’s the spring planting, with corn shoots coming out of the earth? Or am I reading this incorrectly?

yes! I also noticed a similar continuity issue towards the end. It's supposed to be May/June, but Ada remarks that the crops look like they're ready to be harvested.

Ya'll have real attention to details! I never notice things like that.
Kelly
I recognized the same issue.

Corn is a fall crop. There are also several spring crops that get planted in the fall.

I looked it up and most corn is harvested in the fall. So I think the description is semi-poorly worded, but the seeds were planted in the spring and are now growing green, soon they would be harvested.
