Goodreads asked Sylvia Gresham:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Sylvia Gresham Having studied the Tudors for many years I felt compelled to write about them as my fascination grew. Whilst their story has been told many times, I found, during my research, a tantalising missing piece of the jigsaw.
Starting with Catherine of Aragon, little is known about her two week stay in Plymouth where she landed. I made it my personal mission to find out more about this particular period, which would have been Catherine’s first impression of England, and the people she was destined to co-rule.
Meet the real-life characters, John Paynter, spelt Painter in the novel (the merchant who housed Catherine and her nobles), Thomas Crop (Plymouth’s mayor), and the English Sea Captain, Stephen Brett, who guided the Spanish fleet to safety after it hit trouble.
