Kathi Held I think she usually sedates him at night to make sure that he doesn't cause any trouble so that the care home won't learn about his decline and move him away from her. I interpreted it as she didnt sedate him that night because he seemed to have a very clear and good moment, playing chess with Bogdan and she could hold on to the illusion that everything is fine for just a little bit longer.
