Goodreads asked Dana Marton:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Dana Marton My most recent book (DEATHMARCH) touches on both prepping and historical reenactment, subjects I'm personally interested in.

--On the verge of losing her business, Allie Bianchi, a historical reenactor, must return to her hometown that never accepted her family. The sooner she leaves again, the better. But when the town recluse is murdered on the night of her arrival, his prepper hoard stolen, she becomes Detective Harper Finnegan's number one suspect. In what universe is her town black sheep ex-boyfriend now a cop, arresting her for murder?--

I always try to pick a topic for my books that will make doing research a pleasure instead of a chore. Most of my ideas come from thinking about an interesting subject. E.g. "I wonder if it'd be possible to make a living from being a professional historical reenactor?" And then off my brain goes!
