Genevieve Cogman I'm contracted up to book 8. There may be more after that - I can't say.

As for Irene and Kai, they're a better romantic fit. Vale probably wouldn't have had that moment with Irene if he hadn't been infected with chaos at the time. He's happy just to be a friend to both of them.
