Another big fan of the series here :D *waves* (The 80ies mall was a delicious slice of book cake you offered, still smiling! :)) How did you come up with the characters' backgrounds? Will they play some significant role in the future or is it just a "fun fact"? Will ties to Sun Throne extend Brandon's life? There is an entity in the book that carries a loaded name - Rurik. Will it go anywhere or is it "just" a name?

Let's see.... I've built the character backgrounds over years; this idea has been rattling in my head for over a decade. And yes, theoretically, Brand will live as long as Rune does -- since they are bonded, rejuvenations magic can be used on Brand, too. And Rurik.... Hmmm. I'm not sure WHY I picked the name. But maybe there will be time to explore that in the future. ;)

Not a question, but I'm not on social media so I thought this might be the best way to tell you- I recently got a job at my local indie bookstore and today they gave me the option of ordering books I think we should be carrying... I was just reminiscing about how great The Last Sun was and checking to see if I misremembered the publishing date of The Hanged Man... unfortunately still some months to wait! In the mean time - do you have any books to recommend that you were inspired by? Or generally fantasy or m/m you particularly like with well developed lead & supporting characters?
