A Goodreads user asked Kevin Sands:

I love your books. I stumbled across the first one at a free book giveaway and I loved it immediately. My question is, do you model any of your characters after real people, or do they all come from your imagination?

Kevin Sands All the characters, other than actual historical figures, are products of my imagination. I never model characters after real people, since I find it interferes with the creative process—you spend time thinking about what that (real) person would do, rather than what would make for the best story.

As for historical figures like Charles II and Louis XIV, I try to write them as true to how we knew them to actually be.
