Goodreads asked Sandi Rebert:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Sandi Rebert Good morning, Lily! Thanks for reaching out to me. My inspiration for In Due Season was Williamsburg, VA. I've been to this living history museum many times. I love the Colonial time period and enjoy literally stepping back in time! I came up with the five main characters - Mr. Richardson (the town's bootmaker who has a debilitating disease); Bradley, his arrogant son; Rebekah, his blind daughter; John, a mistreated indentured servant who (at the beginning of the story) escapes from a London workhouse in search of freedom; and Elizabeth, a recently orphaned young woman from England who is hired as housekeeper and companion for Rebekah. The characters practically wrote their own story! I am not in need of an editor or proofreader at the moment but would take you up on the review. Which book would you like? I will send you a copy of the ebook. :)
