Sarah Bailey-Wiles I’ve just finished this book and it left me wondering what the ending meant, in particular the “I could...” My first thought was that Matthias was going to abduct Hannah and do something sinister to her, but then having read the comments here it’s more likely that he just wanted to transfer the love that he had for his daughter onto his newly discovered granddaughter. I think the desire to hold onto Hannah in particular after discovering Lina’s actual death makes sense, but there’s something about the way he is described leaving the house, lying to his wife and then just the two of them driving away that made me question it.
