Having just finished and thoroughly enjoying "A Beautiful Poison" what are your current reflections on this book you wrote a few years ago about the Spanish Flu Pandemic now that we are experiencing the COVID-19 Pandemic?

It has been really eye-opening to see a pandemic unfold in real life as opposed to in history. As in the story, the disease sometimes feels like a mindless thing that's just out to get everyone. Thank you for reading!

I have read many of your books now, spending my time reading whilst Vic, AU was in stage 4 lockdown for three months. You helped me get through the pandemic! My question is quite personal and I know it’s been a horrible year in the US, as well as the rest of us. Do you believe that the current trend to demonise opiates has parallels with attitudes to alcohol abuse which led to Prohibition and immense repercussions?

I'm sure you came across the Harrison Horror in your well-researched book, The Impossible Girl, but I really like the way he summarizes and presents it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2KPkRE1S7c Hearing his narration of the historical facts brought back so much of your novel to me. That time and that world are fascinating.
