The stories in each book are 100% not related in any way so your good to start where you want.
I read Tomie first and then Gyo and now I am halfway through Uzumaki right now.
I think Uzumaki might end up winning out as my favorite, but I am not disappointed I started out with Tomie. Gyo is excellent, but it is repulsive. If that not something you want then it might be best to dip your toes in a different spot first.

No. Start from any one of them you like. They aren't related to each others in any way nor are happening at the same place. I began from Uzumaki, rencenly just finished horror story collection Shivers ( it has one Tomie story but stories are not connected there either ) and started Tomie.

Honestly no, I am reading Tomie (that is his first published work) right now and it's my first Ito's manga and I think it's anyway a great experience. By the way, if you have a lot of expectations and you want the greatest experience you should start by Uzumaki because it is considered his masterpiece.
