James Wood asked:

How frequent is the use of explicit language? And how severe is it? I'm super excited to read this book as a love Christophers writing and the story sound thoroughly intriguing... however... I really don't enjoy reading explicit language and sex scenes.

the Explicit language is moderately frequent. About a little bit per conversation. No explicit sex scenes (only offhand reminiscence).
Dave There was a sex scene. Depending on your definitions, I would call it explicit but not graphic (i.e. it didn't happen off screen, but didn't have anything I consider vulgar). It is probably easy to skip past.
Prefer NotTosay Basically for language, anytime Chris would have said in his other books that the character swore, the character swears.
