Goodreads asked Barbara Reed:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Barbara Reed I once took a writer's class where the teacher said the way to get rid of writer's block was, and I quote, "Ass in chair ten hours a day." Well, I'm not sure my back would take that for ten hours a day (I'm using a stand-up desk at the moment) but I do know that sometimes you just have to write. When I'm feeling rushed or "uninspired", I still want to be writing, so I often write notes about what should be in that scene right in the spot that it will be. Then later, when there's more time or more privacy, I'll begin "fiddling" with it...and soon I'm back to writing. Basically, you just have to start.
