I was so invested in his relationship with Henry because I genuinely doubt it was just mentorship, he clearly manipulated him and their relationship went far beyond the typical teacher-student one.
However, I don't think he was involved in the first murder. In fact, I don't think there even was a murderer. No one actually remembers what happened and there are a lot of references to animals. I think the farmer was murdered by animals and they just stumbled upon the body but didn't realize what happened because of all the drugs. Therefore, all of their panics were for nothing.(less)
