Jesse asked Wayne Thomas Batson:

I saw on the description of Ghost that it was intended for mature audiences. Do you think it would be okay for an eight grader? Thanks!

Wayne Thomas Batson Hi, Jesse! The answer to your question is important, and it could vary quite a bit depending on a few variables. What is the 8th grader already reading? If he/she's been reading Stephen King or Dean Koontz or even Jim Butcher, GHOST should be no problem. There is violence, and it is graphic and visceral, but for realism's sake, not for gratuitous enjoyment. The killer in the story is sadistic and troubled...so the themes could definitely be the thing of nightmares for some kids. There's no sex and pretty much no language issues. It's just a disturbing case for GHOST and readers to follow.
