Deidre I wondered this too. I think it's a flaw in the story. If they had had an actual conversation he would probably remembered that too.
Loretta Self I didn't read the book I saw the series...before I knew there was a book!! LOL but I picked up on the description of the mom as told by the cop.. that she was in law school and she had a vivid imagination and it showed her drawing an image of the courtroom. So she probably drew the images so she wouldn't forget her parents and she would tell her children that was their grandpa.

Summer See now, I thought the trips were real... so I'm a little confused.
Gabby I believe it was the grandads mothers home which he explained had the beautiful garden and hydrangeas.
