A friend of mine recently read Lent as an audiobook, and while we were comparing notes about the ending we realized that her version did not include Chapter 48. She got it from Libro.fm, but when she looked at the Audible page for it, it seemed to be the same length. Is this a known issue with the audiobook edition? It seems like a pretty major omission!

Jo Walton Oh no, seriously? Aaaaatgh! That's so awful. It may only be three lines but it's a very important three lines! Thanks so much for letting me know. I'll get my agent to contact the audiobook people and see what we can do to fix it.

I have huge admiration and respect for your writing, especially Among Others and My Real Children (a masterpiece). Inspired by you/Mori, I just read The Left Hand of Darkness but found it hard going ('scuse the pun) and a bit beyond me. Hence my question. Does Doris Lessing not figure high on your list? I am thinking of the Canopus in Argos series? How about Briefing for a Descent into Hell?
