Between us we have sent three kids to college from different high schools – so we saw up close the intensity of the college admissions process. We saw it affect communities, friendships, and parent-child relationships. GIRLS WITH BRIGHT FUTURES was a way for us to explore why so many parents are willing to do just about anything to give their kids a leg up to get into their dream schools. And when we say, “their dream schools,” we’re not necessarily talking about the kids. And for the record, we were almost finished with our manuscript when the Operation Varsity Blues college admissions scandal broke.
