I'm confused about the order of the tetralogy. LD is the 3rd book, Streets of Loredo (LD #2) is the 4th book, Dead Man's Walk (LD #3) is the 1st book, and Comanche Moon (LD #4) is the 2nd book. Should they be read in LD #1 - LD #4 order? Or book 1 - book 4 order? Or does it matter?

Then read chronologically - Dead Man's Walk > Comanche Moon > Streets of Laredo. If you read by publication order, you will end with Comanche Moon - this will end the series with something of a whimper. With my suggested order, you meet the characters, learn their back story, and then have the closure of Streets of Laredo(less)
