N.C. Reed I missed this question somehow, or at least I can't find where I answered it. I usually get an email when someone asks a question here, but I don't recall getting one lately. Regardless, with apologies for the late answer, the bulk of the story takes place in what would have been the southeastern US in the distant past (book time distant, anyway).

Some have compared it to the civil war of the 1860's, but it's not based on that in any way. This story is based on a modern day apocalypse story of mine that has not yet been completed ( the story of Tyree ) but that I hope to write in it's entirety some day. The division came as people tried to rebuild and technology was lost as time went by due to the loss of so many skilled people.
