This is a book that should appeal to most age groups but it's also the kind of book that will resonate with people who have experienced life at all kinds of levels, particularly as empathic, sensitive or thoughtful people. That isn't pretentious but Backman is an author who concerns himself very much with the way that life damages people and the way that damaged people deal with life.

Anxious People is an adult themed book. Not in terms of language particularly, but in terms of relationships, and issues it deals with. I suspect even older teenagers may not appreciate it as much as adults will.

Mature teenagers will probably enjoy this book. My son is almost 16, he thought it was wonderful and funny.
