Hi Caroline! If you could do an adaptation of any book/movie, what would you choose and what would it be like?

Caroline O'Donoghue Hey Serena! I think Fire & Hemlock by Diana Wynne Jones, a book that I read last year and haven't been able to stop thinking about since. It's an epic fantasy while also being a very ordinary story of a girl growing up and falling in love, and it has some of the most arresting visuals of any novel I've ever read – the first scene is two little girls, gatecrashing a funeral dressed as high priestesses, and it only gets weirder from there. It would be a fairly controversial adaptation given that it's mostly about the budding romance between a young teenager and an adult man over many years, but I think completely worth the challenges and conversations it would bring up.
