How do you get inspired to write?

Chip R. Bell This is going to sound weird again! I do not fully understand the origin of the inspiration to write; I am just grateful when it appears. And, I try to treat it with reverence and awe. The question reads a bit like getting in shape to participate in an athletic event. Writing inspiration is more like falling in love. So, if the question was, "How do you prepare to fall in love?" it would seem odd. Inspiration is enhanced by receptivity, patience, openness, and being non-judgmental, just like falling in love. But, figuring out when and how inspiration actually occurs is like trying to crack the code on the exact formula for falling in love.
