Maggie Stewart I read this book at 13 and am now 14. it definitely has some very explicit parts, mainly drugs, alcohol, + other party-related stuff including sex, bu…moreI read this book at 13 and am now 14. it definitely has some very explicit parts, mainly drugs, alcohol, + other party-related stuff including sex, but I think it really depends on the maturity level of the kid. at 13 I didn't really understand a lot of what was going on and think that I would now, although not everything. the entire plot of the book is relatively vague, similar to that of the catcher in the rye, and follows a young high school student. if you are really wanting to read it, i say go for it! just be aware of the pretty explicit content and references that may be over your head. i would read it now and also save it to re-read later in life. a great website to buy cheap books is thriftbooks.com or your local library for free! hope this helped.
