This question is for the author. What was your fist thought when you realized that this book would be coming out in print during an actual pandemic, also how does Living through some of what your characters do change your perspective?

My first thought was, "I hope this book provides kids with both an adventurous escape from the realities of our current time, as well as a way to talk about it and process it moving forward." As far as living through what my characters experience, I did make a few COVID-inspired edits in the final manuscript. They're subtle but important.
