Rouven asked Laurence E. Dahners:

Hi, I just wanted to ask if there is a reason to release the book as a pre-order instead of just releasing it directly once it is accepted in the store? Basically, I'm too impatient to wait for the new books and would rather read them directly once I can buy them :)

Laurence E. Dahners When I'm done writing, but it's not ready because it's waiting for the beta readers to read it and give me feedback for the final edits, I can put it up for those who're anxious to get it. Then if they preorder they can have it the day it comes out.

Also, selfishly, if a bunch of people buy a book on the same day, it rises in the Amazon rankings and when it's ranked highly more people notice it and try it out.

So, everybody wins. You get to know exactly when it's coming out and can preorder, or mark it on your calendar. I don't have to answer as many questions about when it's coming out and the book gets to be a little higher in the rankings.
It isn't really delaying when you'd get it.

Thanks for your interest!
