It's kind of the last major town with the requisite places (like a footy oval) before you head into salt lake territory. The Great Northern Highway passes through (remember, Jaxie saw a road-train just before he left) and it's approximately 300km from Mt Magnet, and similar to the distances Jaxie mentions from Perth and Geraldton. Also, Tim Winton mentions this town in a 2008 article he wrote when he visited the area. See more here: https://www.themonthly.com.au/issue/2...
