Susan Of course! It takes place in Palm Beach, FL in 2020 and is very funny. I consider it the best satire of this year. It's a must-read for anyone - - with humor about politics.
Judith A. Gervais Yes, but it's more fun when you know the back story and are familiar with Hiassen's work.
Richard Milter I have read all of Carl Hiaasen's books, even the young adult ones. This was probably the funniest book I have ever read. I absolutely loved it! While there are reoccurring characters, it is a great stand alone comedy.
Pamela Eglinski Absolutely. This is my first Hiaasen, and I will read more!
Michael Lee Yes, except Skink's biography; Hiaasen usually does a capsule version of it in every book in which the character appears, but not here. For that you need to turn to at least one of those previous books (rewarding in itself), or just read his Wikipedia article.
Merry I did and liked it
Ja Davis Absolutely, just read Hiaasen's bio if you haven't read any of his other writings!
Dana Yes! I read this one first - an absolute joy of a book!!
Marty Sanders Yes, some of the characters are recurring but not necessary to read in order.
Michael McCue Yes it can. But Hiaasen's books with Skink in them are more enjoyable if read in order.
