Can I read KoS without reading the Shadow & Bone trilogy? I have read the Six of Crows duology & have a working knowledge of Grishaverse, just don't feel particularly keen on reading the S&B trilogy.

(And let the record show I'm NOT saying it just because Shadow and Bones is one of my favorite trilogies ever. xD Also, its whole story kind of has a different feel to it from the Six of Crows one, despite being in the same Grishaverse.)

If I'm not wrong, King of Scars is mainly about Nikolai and Zoya and Nina, and the first two were largely involved in the trilogy. Like, VERY involved. I haven't read it yet, but from what I gathered from the book description, King of Scars basically deals with the aftermath of the war on Ravka that took place in the trilogy. E.g. "the terrible legacy" inside Nikolai. I'm pretty sure I know what that is about.

So you know, Leah probably would explain the backstory of how Nikolai and Zoya became who they are now in the book however much she can, but you'd get a much better understanding of the characters and their conflicts if you read the trilogy. I THINK. It's only my assumption.(less)
