Most of your stories are based on real people's experiences. How did you get all the pieces of the story? Did you have to travel to the area or were you able to contact a history center?
Lisa See
I always go to the places I write about and I try as best I can to interview people who lived through the history I'm writing about. I use bits and pieces of their stories to build a story of my own.
