Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Vicki Reed Deep in the woods while I was cutting out invasive honeysuckle in order to free up sunlight for native plants! While I worked I talked to another volunteer who had taught in an alternative school. We started telling "kid stories". That night at 3 a.m. I began The Car Thief.
