(view spoiler)[Even after finishing It Ends With Us (and re-reading it a hundred times), my mind is still fixated on Ryle as the hero (I really don't know why)....I guess this is because Atlas has a sort of small role and the entire book is Lily's story. I mean I fell in love with Ryle hard and fast...so Atlas was sorta hard to accept(at first). Is this something you wanted or is my way of thinking completely wrong? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I think it's important that the reader fell in love with Ryle or his actions wouldn't have hurt us as much. This book was all about playing devil's advocate for me. We judge women in these situations because we aren't in love with the men they're in love with. But in It Ends With Us, the reader finds themselves rooting for the Hero, and when we find out he's not who we want him to be, it hurts, and hopefully it helps us to feel empathy in the future for women in these situations. This book is more women's fiction than romance for sure, even though a lot consider it romance because of Atlas and Lily's ending. But there's nothing wrong with your way of thinking. I didn't create Ryle to be a complete monster because most humans aren't. If you haven't read the author's note in the back of the novel, I go into depth about my intentions for this book. Colleen Hoover:
Hi Colleen! I've been trying to remember this for a while now. Can you tell me which of your books has the scene where one of the characters says something like this? 'All of the things and people can be gone but I can continue to exist for that one person' or ''I will be happy to live for that one person if all else is gone' I really hope you can answer this! Love all your books!
