I think that you can. Some things to note about the book though is that there is some minor language and violent scenes that could be considered disturbing (depending on the person). If you would feel uncomfortable with those things, you might not want to read the book. This is YA though, there is bound to be a bit more mature content. Aside from that I found this book to be appropriate and I would recommend it to anyone willing to give it a try.

For the benefit of other young readers who might want to know: I would say this is definitely NOT for children, as there is an attempted r*** scene that almost made me quit the book, and I'm 33 years old! Also one character is super disgusting and constantly says he plans to r*** one of the major side characters, and I nearly quite the book because of this, too. (Otherwise, this book is fantastic!)
