In A Worthy Pursuit and the sequel novella, the "Dead-Eye Dan" dime novels the characters read are based on "real" exploits. Were real dime novels like those often based on true adventures?

Hi, LGF. Great question. Most dime novels were pure fiction. But many did tie in to real historical figures like Wild Bill Hickock and others. Although, I would imagine the tales were greatly exaggerated and sensationalized.
