Most notably, Heat Storm (2017) has both Nikki Heat and Derrick Storm featured throughout.

Each book from both series' stand on their own and can be read independently, but they are best read in the order they were published. The only exception being Derrick Storm books 1-3 (A Brewing Storm, A Raging Storm, and A Bloody Storm); they need to be read in order as they are essentially one book.

With this in mind there are certainly events and actions that take place in one novel that impact the following books or take place directly following the end of the novel. So although technically all books can be read independently, to avoid spoilers they should be read in the order they were published as those events will be referenced or directly impact the following novels.(less)
