Goodreads asked Caitlin Huotilainen:

How do you get inspired to write?

Caitlin Huotilainen Writing and illustrating children's books is my passion. The inspiration for my books comes from everyday life - usually from either my son, my cat or my "day job" as a researcher. I am inspired to write and illustrate short stories and poems that will make my son smile, and that relate in somehow to his life and experiences growing up.

"Goodnight Olli!" is a story about little Olli Cat that has trouble falling asleep, because he can't stop thinking about all the fun he had during the day! This is something that I'm sure most/all parents (and children) can relate to.

"Say Hello to Bat the Cat" is a fun book that teaches children greetings in different languages. I am an expat/immigrant, and have a circle of friends from many different backgrounds. Giving the gift of learning languages, even just starting from simple "Hello" and "Goodbye", is very valuable. The main character in this book (Bat the Cat) was inspired by our family cat named Bat.

The "ABC's of NPPs" (coming soon) is a book that is inspired by my "day job". It is a traditional ABC book, but with a somewhat non-tradition topic/inspiration. It uses Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) components and concepts, for a very colorful, informative and scientific presentation of the ABC's. See a preview of this book on my website - https://caitlinhuotilainen.wordpress.... - and learn a bit more.

Cheers,
Caitlin
